I believe Steve Hassan brought out it was usually the well educated who converted to a Cult than a uneducated person. But then again there are always exceptions to the rule. Still Totally ADD

What Are The Differences Between JWs Born In and Converted?
by minimus ini tend to think that many jws who joined the religion in their later years feel foolish or are embarrassed by their decision to become one of jehovah’s witnesses.
.
i’m not embarrassed by my years “in the truth “ because i was raised from infancy to believe everything was god’s word and who are we to question jehovah and his organization?

Asylum Caravan
by dubstepped inalright, so what is the deal with the thousands coming to the states right at election time seeking asylum?
i'm not up on this, usually try not to be, but how can this not be manipulative?
it's either manipulative in the size of the group and pressure that creates, or in where it started or who started this, etc.

Dont worry Waton by 2050 or so the white majority will end in the US. Then 100 years after that if mankind is still alive there will be another majority of people of a diffrent race and so on and on. I just hope they find a way not to be so stupid in taking care of this earth and show more human compassion to all. I am for the human race and right now it's in grave danger. Whatever the outcome of this caravan I hope it is dealt with legally and human compassion. Still Totally ADD

Hello rawe. My wife and I have given several sermons at our local UU congregation. From the history of the UU's to what is a Cult. We enjoy the freedom to believe what you want to at the same time respecting the dignity of all humans and the web of life.
It so nice you had your family there. Does your congregation record your sermons and put them on your web site? I found becoming a UU was one of the best things we did to cope coming out of a mind control cult. Take care nice to know you have now have the freedom to think. Pm me some time if you like. What’s the big deal with birthday cake?
by Addison0998 inhow strict were the jehovah’s witnesses you knew about birthday cake?
i knew a girl who saw a few pieces of cake in the break room at her work, and ate a peice, then found out later that it was left over birthday cake.
she felt so guilty and was scared about a bad impression she left on her work mates.

Elder Is Dodgy Used Car Salesman
by pale.emperor injust thought i'd relate this story for any lurkers out there.. here in the north west of england there's an elder called george ashton.
the ashton's are a big family, most of the men are appointed as elders or at least min servants.
george owns a used car dealership and almost all jws in liverpool looking for a car have heard of him.

How do you feel about your JW childhood?
by Emily1987 ini was 5 years old when my mother was baptised.
we went from celebrating xmas to no presents or decorations.
we would still go to my unbelieving aunty's house on xmas day, all of my cousins would be playing with their new toys and would wonder why i didn't have any.

Positive memories as a JW child..
by fulano init is based on gorbatsjov's good topic, but we all must have had nice, pleasant, romantic moments in our congregations.. i was always a dedicated boy, baptized at 14. we had our bookstudy at 8:00 pm and before that our fieldservice at 7:00 pm .
most of times, as a 14-16 years old boy i was the only one there with our conductor.
he was from aruba, immigrated to our cold and wet european country.

I Got Very Stange JW Doorknocker Yesterday
by pale.emperor ini had an ex-jw uncle of mine visiting me yesterday from another part of the country.
i usually only ever see him at weddings and funerals but we keep in touch on facebook.
we were catching up in my place with his wife when about an hour into the visit there's a knock on my door, this was about 4pm.. strange... the only people who ever knock without calling me first are the postman and my ex-wife.. i open the door and it's a face i recognize from my last congregation.

On the front page of the local newspaper in large letters "NEVER YIELD". After introductions by local director of the Jackson center a stage production of "The Faithful Do Not Yield" which depit the decades of oppression surffered by Jehovah's Witnesses in America. The article goes on to say:The lecture series was a collaborative effort with the Jackson Center and the Watchtower Society, It was part of ongoing series "Canaries in The Coal Mine of Human Rights". Next day the keynote speaker:" was Philip Brimley, General counsel for Jehovah Witnesses, World Headquarters Offices.
A friend of ours was there and told me the hall was filled by local JW's. She was surprise by so many witnesses there. I told her there is 4 congregations in Jamestown alone as will as several others in surrounding towns. She had no idea and she thought there was no congregations in this town. She has lived here almost all her 89 years of life. One lady who was sitting next to my friend was telling her how she was once a Catholic and was so happy she was a Jw's now. I am thinking about sending a letter to the opinion page of our local newspaper about jw facts. Any ideas what to say? Still Totally ADD
